Trondheim - Roros

Meeting family....and sorry

We apologise to all of you for the long silence here. The provider who hosts our website, gmx, blocked our site because we reached the limit of size. And we were denied to upgrade to 2 GB, on the grounds that they give 2 GB only to new clients! Both these limits and the way they treat their customers are just ridiculous. With the help of Christian and his computer we could finally delete saved back-ups to free some (not much) space on the remote drive. As soon as we can we will look for another solution.

But here now an over-due update: We arrived in Trondheim on Saturday. Quite exhausted by the heat in combination with the Norwegian mountains. We enjoyed the city - founded by Norway’s (Viking) king and patron saint Olav in the 10th century. On Sunday we went to the mass in the cathedral - and received the blessing not only in Norwegian but also in (South)-Sami language. We were lucky because it was the opening day of the “Olavsfest 2019” and we even managed to get tickets for the concert the same evening - also in the cathedral.

On Monday we were happy to meet Christian with his two little daughters, Sokú and Tessa, who came all the way from Singapore and who will spend a week with us. Together we explored the city by Kayak descending the river to the harbor. Yesterday, we took the train to beautiful Roros, the old mining town (UNESCO world heritage) with many well-preserved wooden houses. After passing by a bike rental, we have now 3 bikes and a trailer so that we can do family cycling excursions into the area, including to the old mines.
