Yesterday, our new spokes arrived from Bolzano and on our way to the bike workshop just a few kilometers North of Reggio di Calabria we got soaking wet in the heaviest rains we had so far. And our mobile phone died of drowning as Heidi tried to find the way to the next train station back to Reggio in the rain - no wonder as the screen was broken. But today we got our tandem back. Let's see how long the now third version of the back wheel will last....
The news today are full about flood damage in the region. It had rained in some parts up to 180 mm in 24 hours! We managed to find a train connection (1 change only) where we could take our tandem to Sibari, to recuperate the days "lost" in Reggio due to the wheel problem. In the train we were happy to meet Bernar, a Brazilian-Italian on an open-end cycle trip with just incredible optimism and good mood, a nice encounter which made us feel much better.
