Going East...
It was time to say goodbye to Rabat. Since Heidi felt still a bit feeble from a 1 week long cold with coughing, I took the tandem on Sunday morning to cycle to Khemisset, the first stretch (again) through the Maamora forest. Sunday is souk day (market) in many locations. In addition Sunday seems to be the weekday reserved for picnics and family outings in general, there were many parties under the trees on both side of the road. So the N6 road which I could not really avoid to take was quite busy, it was only from Tiflit onwards that I enjoyed the then much calmer ride.
I found a "hotel" for 80 dirham (8 Euros) where I shared the tiny space with the tandem. Next day, from Khemisset to Meknes it became quite hilly, but really beautiful landscape. I guess I passed the southernmost point of our whole trip. Heidi arrived by train late in the evening and we still managed to have a rather simple Christmas dinner on a rooftop terrace overlooking the main square at the entrance to the Medina.
Bab el-Khemis, Meknès
Probably the southernmost point of the whole trip at 33.7°N

Hotel Zaamour, Khemisset.
A room for 2, me and the tandem.
